The foreman/operator manages crew members so that utility construction is completed in an orderly, timely, and cost‑effective manner. When necessary, he/she operates equipment or performs production activities to complete the installation of utilities. This is a Safety Sensitive position.
- Communicate effectively daily with the management team.
- Lead multiple crews of four or more people.
- Read and understand blueprints.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects, and smooth operation of the department.
- Travel up to 80% of the time.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Compliance with attendance standards and late/absence notification procedures.
- Ability to pass a drug and background check.
- Travel up to 15% may be required based on company needs.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Must obtain and renew annually a State approved Electrical Apprentice License (must be licensed in TX).

The employee must be physically fit to endure the daily activities involved with the job. Work may take place inside or outside, in all weather elements such as rain, heat, cold, and snow.
This position may require work at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switch gear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space, or attic, in confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces; works on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches and excavations, in and around single and multi‑story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, roadside construction, including portable sanitary facilities.
- Bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
- Sit for long periods of time while driving.
- Lift or move up to 50 pounds; constantly move on feet.
- Climb ladders of all types.
- Complete full day assignments involving overhead work.
- Make transitions from employee parking areas or streets into construction work areas and access all levels of the building, even when the only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction.
- Secure tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
- Possess good vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Possess good hearing: normal or corrected.
- Identify different colors of wiring, conduits, and fiber optics.
- Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
- Work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required, including weekend and night shifts.
- Work in the presence of customers and their representatives with minimal interference or disruption, maintaining a professional and courteous image.
