Field Service Technician‑Network – install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telecommunications products and equipment that TDS sells and leases (Key Systems, PBX, Centrex Systems, and/or other business systems). Perform work associated with splicing and maintaining outside plant facilities and equipment. Handle aerial, buried, and/or underground fiber optic and copper cable. Provide proactive sales of TDS services and products. Services include Telephony, Video/CATV/DBS, Internet, and high‑speed networks.

• Install, troubleshoot, test, splice, repair, and maintain telephone equipment and general network equipment, customer premise equipment, Video/CATV/DBS, fiber optic/copper facilities and other TDS products & services for new and existing customers.
• Configure, maintain, and repair Key Systems, PBX, Centrex Systems, and other business systems such as fiber terminals, ISPs, ISDN, DSL, T‑1s, and/or DS3s.
• Identify defective cable using test equipment and repair buried, aerial, underground, and customer cable. Locate cable and fiber in response to customer requests and construction needs. Pole climbing and operating construction equipment required.
• Mark company underground and buried facilities to prevent damage. Keep orderly log of all locate requests in our exchange area.
• Perform cable fault acceptance tests on newly constructed facilities.
• Provide troubleshooting support techniques and corrections. Respond to “trouble” dispatches.
• Support record system maintenance (cross connects, line groups, network elements).
• Provide excellent customer service and proactively educate and sell TDS products and services.
• Perform project management of system installation and related functions as requested by supervisor.

Wednesday–Saturday, four 10‑hour shifts (8:00 AM–7:00 PM). Additional overtime and on‑call rotation may be required.

Must reside within 60‑minute driving distance from the La Vergne, TN warehouse (102 Gingham Drive – La Vergne, TN 37086).

• 1+ year basic technical telecommunications experience – or current/past military service with honorable discharge.
• 6+ months of basic fiber optic and/or copper cable splicing and repair, installation, and repair, or switch training.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Follow TDS attendance guidelines.

• Pass customer‑specific requirements, including background checks.
• Availability for on‑call/standby responsibilities; willing to work overtime and occasional travel.
• Pass Safety Course curriculum.
• Maintain DOT requirements for vehicles with GVRW >10,000 lbs.
• Strong technical understanding of fiber and copper plant installation and troubleshooting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of telecommunication products and services (inside wiring, internet, bonding, grounding, data & computers, fiber optics, etc.).
• Proficiency with computer applications (Databases, Trouble/Repair/Dispatch Systems, Plant Record Systems, MS Office).
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong customer service, sales, and communication skills.
• Organizational skills and ability to multi‑task.
• Operate vehicles with manual transmissions.
