About the Role

The Welder III performs advanced welding on cutting‑edge space hardware, specializing in orbital tube welding. This role involves precision fabrication of aerospace components including structural, hydraulic, zirconium, and stainless steel systems. Responsibilities include operating specialized welding equipment, maintaining precise measurements, and adhering to aerospace safety standards to ensure flight hardware integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced cutting, trimming, fitting, and fabricating weldments to dimensions for building and assembly using standard tools, materials, and welding trade practices.
  • Lead welding projects and collaborate with engineers to ensure proper weld procedures, programs, types of materials, setups, and approaches are accurately assessed.
  • Utilize different types of welding systems, following various technical drawings and detailed work instructions.
  • Perform tasks according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions.
  • Use precision measurement tools to ensure components meet specified tolerances.
  • Fabricate fixtures for use, including non‑flight parts with standard alloys and complex geometry.
  • Adhere to standard shop practices, following personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety requirements.
  • Follow 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols.
  • Record daily work completion accurately and report to the lead technician.
  • Contribute to enhancing operations, minimizing turnaround times, streamlining workflows, and fostering effective collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Typically 5+ years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with general best shop practices including PPE and shop safety requirements.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for use including non‑flight parts with standard alloys and complex geometry.
  • Understanding of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.
  • Ability to follow correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware.
  • Advanced understanding of welding techniques and processes, including MIG, TIG, and Orbital arc welding.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal training or education in welding or a related field.
  • Strong mathematical, basic computer, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced understanding of welding techniques and processes, including MIG, TIG, and Orbital arc welding.
  • Previous experience in an aerospace manufacturing or welding environment.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and adapt.
Compensation

Pay Range: $29.46 - $40.52 per hour.

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
