- Possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to teach all areas of Power Line Construction and Maintenance Technology.
- Must be proficient in Power Line Basics, industry-accepted Safety Practices, Climbing Wood and Steel Structures, Electrical Theory and Concepts, Electric Utility Operations, Underground Power Line Construction, and Single Phase and Three Phase Transformer Connections.
- Provide individualized classroom, lab, and field work instruction to postsecondary and secondary students to prepare them for employment in power line construction and maintenance fields.
- Teach students safe and effective practices in:
Overhead and underground line construction, climbing wood and steel structures and rigging techniques, equipment operation (bucket truck, digger derrick, etc.), electrical system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. - Commitment to remain current in the Power Line Construction and Maintenance field and maintain accreditation standards.
- Monitor, grade, and evaluate students’ progress and maintain student records.
- Assist in the recruitment and placement of students.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Maintain good public relations with business and industry and develop and maintain an advisory group comprised of industry personnel for continued program improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Post‑secondary training from an industry-accepted Lineman Training program.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in the power line construction and maintenance field as a Lineman and be a Journeyman Lineman.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and industry safety standards.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
- High level skills in oral and written communication.
- Evidence of strong work ethic as it relates to timeliness of reporting, oversight of multiple on‑going projects, and the ability to work with others.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to deal tactfully with the students, public, and co‑workers; to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
