Compensation and Hours
  • Hourly Pay: $25.50 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
  • Schedule:

    Monday through Friday, weekends off
  • Hours:

    Second Shift Monday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm;
    Tuesday through Friday 11:30 am – 8:00 pm

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification / post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools, required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
  • Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
Other Requirements
  • This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must: obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire; pass a Ryder drug test; pass a DOT physical; pass a Ryder road test; pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance
  • Perform standard component inspections and repairs
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
  • Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which could include but are not limited to Service Island support
