Controls Technician
The Controls Technician is responsible for anchoring our plant maintenance operations by bridging the gap between high‑level industrial electrical systems and precise electronic hardware. As a Controls Technician, you will serve as the primary authority on automation control failures across our manufacturing facility, ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency for our automated stamping, welding, rolling, and production paint systems.
We are hiring for FIRST SHIFT. Starting Pay: $33.50 per hour.
What You Will Do- Live Circuit Diagnosis & Troubleshooting:
Trace and isolate intermittent electrical faults on live 480V 3‑phase systems down to 24V DC logic loops under critical down‑time pressure. - Blueprint Literacy:
Read, interpret, and reverse‑engineer complex, multi‑page American and European industrial electrical schematics and ladder logic diagrams. - Panel Engineering & Wiring:
Build, modify, clean‑wire, and optimize industrial control panels, enclosures, and relay logic according to UL508A and NEC standards. - Signal Integration:
Calibrate and configure analog and digital field devices, including proximity sensors, photo‑eyes, limit switches, encoders, and safety light curtains. - Drive Optimization:
Set up, parameterize, and troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo drives, and soft starters. - Root‑Cause Isolation:
Differentiate rapidly between mechanical binds, pneumatic/hydraulic drops, and actual electrical or control signal failures. - System Logic Analysis:
Interface directly with machinery control infrastructure, testing hardware inputs and outputs (I/O) to verify system logic and isolate failing field components.
- Years of
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of verified, hands‑on experience explicitly performing controls functions, industrial electrical diagnostics, or automation tracking in a high‑volume manufacturing environment (Required). - Education:
Associate degree in Industrial Electronics, Automation Technology, Electrical Systems Technology, or a completed certified apprenticeship program (Preferred – equivalent veteran‑level experience heavily evaluated). - Critical Thinking
Skills:
Exceptional "Control‑Loop Mindset" to map out system behavior and the ability to remain methodical, safe, and cool under pressure during critical downtime windows (Required). - Advanced Tool Literacy:
Mastery of digital multimeters, loop calibrators, mega ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, and specialized electrical diagnostic equipment (Required). - Physical Demands:
Ability to work on shop floors, navigate around heavy machinery, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs safely (Required).
- Competitive starting pay – we want you to feel appreciated and rewarded for your contributions.
- Health, dental and vision insurance coverage starting DAY 1.
- 401K plan with company match.
- Employee discounts through Perks at Work.
