Job Description
The Bradley Fighting Vehicle is the finishing act in battle, supporting Cavalry and Infantry operations, destroying enemy forces on the front lines, and helping Soldiers command the field. As a member of the team that keeps the vehicle running and operating properly, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainer is a vital part of the Army National Guard’s military dominance.
Responsibilities- Diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Performing maintenance and on‑board direct support tasks on suspension and steering systems.
- Performing maintenance on fire extinguisher and suppression systems.
- Performing maintenance on gas particulate systems, vehicular mounted armament, and associated fire control systems.
- Engine repair and tune‑up.
- How to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
- Repair and replace body panels, fenders, power packs, weapons systems, and radiators.
- Interest in auto mechanics and the industrial arts.
- Preference for solving mechanical problems.
Through training you will develop skills that can lead to a civilian career with auto and construction equipment dealers, farm equipment companies, and state highway agencies. The Army National Guard pays a regular paycheck and provides tuition assistance. Training consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training and 23 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including classroom and field components.
