MORE ABOUT THE T ECHNICIAN A ROLE:

What will the Technician A do?

The Technician A will support the team during the second shift by maintain ing diesel equipment operatio n s, completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements ; correcting vehicle deficienc ies ; making adjustments and alignments , and keeping records.

What is the Technician A responsible for?

  • Perform proficient inspection, diagnosis and moderately complex repair of assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Provide assistance ,guidanceand direction to other maintenance personnel.
  • Inspect the quality of outside/supplier repairs and or rebuilds. Assess structural damage and assign needed repairsutilizingthe most appropriate method(s).
  • Conduct safety checks on trucks.
  • Perform maintenance related work as required.
  • Estimate time and material costs on repairs.
  • Maintains a clear line of communication to the Lead Mechanic/Foreman and other staff in the maintenance department as needed.
  • Keeps shop equipmentoperatingby following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns;maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance.
  • Containscosts by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
  • Updates job knowledge byparticipatingin educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
  • Occasionally may perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and perform all workin accordance with established procedures.

What knowledge, skills and abilities are required for th e Technician A role?

  • Class A CDL license is preferred but not required.
  • Certified welder is preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in class 8 tractor truck maintenance with background of hydraulics.
  • Proficient in electronic diagnostics Cummins and Paccar.
  • Experience with Peterbilt chassis a plus.
  • Knowledge of DOT compliance, laws, rules,regulation sand safety is helpful.
  • Knowledge of transportation management system, a plus.
  • Computer literate. Microsoft,Outlook and Excel a plus.
  • Attention to detail andpossessa high levelof accuracy.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop andmaintainpositive relationships with dispatch team and auto haulers.
  • Excellent communication skills both internally and with customers.
  • Work may require more than
    40 hoursper week.
