Position Title: Install and Repair Technician
Department: MLConnect (based in Perry or Lewis County)
FLSA Status:
Non-exempt
Job Duties:
- Maintains professional contact with subscribers at all times.
- Maintains documentation, spares, and logistic information.
- Coordinates with subscriber for installation of indoor fiber from the residential or business NID into subscriber premises.
- Performs installation of subscriber premises broadband equipment included but not limited to: ONTs, Residential Gateways, telephone systems, wireless access points and wireless extenders including connection of subscriber computer equipment and testing.
- Works with IT engineers for the installation, configuration and deployment of business level ONT equipment.
- Troubleshoots subscriber issues.
- Maintains communication with supervisor and dispatch involving troubleshooting and related issues, and time management.
- Verifies service by testing circuits and equipment; identifies, corrects, or escalates problems.
- Provides detailed explanation to subscribers of services purchased.
- Completes work order documentation completely and accurately.
- Promotes additional services available to subscribers or potential subscribers.
- Works with supervisor and peers to improve work methods, procedures and workflows.
- Maintains subscriber confidence and protects business operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains a safe working environment by adhering to policies, procedures and regulations set forth by MLConnect, local, state and federal law.
- Serves members/subscribers and fellow employees by providing service requested, answering questions and offering assistance.
Education Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent. Associate of Science degree in a related discipline is highly preferred. Valid driver's license is required.
Experience Requirements: Two years of experience working in a technical field, preferably telecom. Knowledge of wireless technology (Wi-Fi, point-to-multipoint, point-to-point) and FTTH technology (GPON, ONT, RG) is a plus. Must be able to work effectively with the public.
Residency Requirement: Must live in the MLEC service area or within 45 minutes of the office assigned unless otherwise authorized by the CEO.
