About the Role

Our client, a dedicated non-profit organization committed to safeguarding children in East London , is seeking a compassionate and experienced Social Worker specializing in child protection. This on-site role is central to providing essential support and intervention services to vulnerable children and families within the community. You will conduct assessments, develop care plans, provide counseling, and collaborate with relevant authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of children  ideal candidate is deeply committed to child welfare, possesses strong advocacy skills, and can navigate complex family situations with empathy and professionalism.

You will be an integral part of a team focused on making a profound difference in the lives of children in the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify needs and risks related to child protection.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized care plans for children in need of protection.
  • Provide direct counseling and therapeutic support to children and families.
  • Liaise with schools, healthcare providers, legal services, and other community agencies to coordinate support.
  • Prepare detailed case notes, reports, and court submissions as required.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children within legal and social service systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) from an accredited institution.
  • Registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in child protection, family support, or related social work practice.
  • In-depth knowledge of child welfare legislation, policies, and procedures in South Africa.
  • Strong assessment, counseling, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
