Software Engineer III

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test software applications for space systems and technologies.
• Write clean, maintainable code that adheres to best practices and coding standards.
• Architect and implement complex software systems to meet project requirements.
• Collaborate with team members to understand project needs and contribute to effective software solutions.
• Utilize version control systems such as Git to manage code changes and collaborate.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to development standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software‑related issues in a timely manner.
• Document software configurations, processes, and procedures for future reference.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, providing technical leadership and support.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience) or master’s degree plus 3 years of experience.
• Typically 5+ years of related experience.
• Expertise in one or multiple programming languages.
• Advanced understanding of software development principles.
• Ability to design and architect complex software systems.
• Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum/Kanban.
• Strong problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to mentor and guide other engineers.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

• Proficiency in Python and React.
• Experience with Python FastAPI.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and ArgoCD for application deployments.
• Experience with code coverage testing and writing unit tests.
• Experience with Agile or Scrum/Kanban methodologies and tools (JIRA, Confluence).
• Familiarity with scripting languages (Bash, Power Shell) and automation tools (Ansible).
• Strong analytical skills, performance profiling, and debugging complex systems.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, and proficiency with collaborative tools (Git Hub, Git Lab, Bitbucket) and development ceremonies.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and cloud‑native development.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Understanding of network protocols, security principles, and secure coding practices.
• Ability to write and maintain technical documentation.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Knowledge of and experience implementing Software Design Patterns.
• Knowledge of database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).

Pay Range: $ – $ (base compensation varies based on experience, education, and market competitiveness).
