Material Handler, Forklift Operator
Location: Jasper
Position Overview
The Warehouse Operator supports the Small Parts department and reports to the Shift Supervisor. The role involves accurate handling, movement, and documentation of materials and products in a manufacturing environment to maintain production flow and inventory accuracy using computers, stationary and handheld devices.
ScheduleShift options:
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00PM – 6:15AM
- Friday – Sunday: 6:00PM – 6:15AM
- Move and document materials/products to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Store and label physical steel inventory accurately.
- Interpret production and shipping orders to ensure proper material handling.
- Perform inventory cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Maintain and care for tools and equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and actively participate in safety practices.
- Make decisions regarding moving, receiving, and storing material.
- Prioritize workloads and resolve discrepancies.
- Enter data and complete required reports in a timely manner.
- Assist with receiving inbound inventory for current and upcoming orders.
- Assist when available for material staging.
- Perform daily crane and forklift inspections.
- Match incoming parts to paper documents to verify part numbers, quantity, and inspect for damage.
- Assist in general plant cleanup and housekeeping.
- Perform audits by comparing records with actual physical materials.
- Perform random quality checks of parts entering the facility.
- Work with all items in an outdoor environment.
- Perform other duties as directed by leaders and management.
- Proficient with computers and able to enter data into IFS and Zebra handhelds.
- Good judgment in inspection of loads for damage and proper handling.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and spend 90% of the workday standing or walking.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions.
- Effective communication skills with coworkers and supervisors.
- High awareness of safety and ability to wear all required PPE.
- Valid forklift operator license for all forklifts used in the position.
- One year of previous experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing/outside environment.
- Experience moving materials around a warehouse or storage yard.
- Experience with inventory management systems (Outlook, IFS, Zebra, Mii).
- Ability to obtain valid Valmont forklift operator license within 6 months of starting.
