The Revenue Tax Auditor conducts field audits for the Indiana Department of Revenue, analyzing business records to ensure compliance with Indiana tax laws. Located in Terre Haute or Fort Wayne, this role requires analyzing taxpayer books and records, interviewing business owners and representatives, and maintaining effective working relationships throughout the audit process.
Key qualifications- Bachelor's degree with minimum 15 hours of accounting coursework
- At least 7 years of tax auditing experience
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards
- Ability to extract and evaluate information from business records
- Ability to conduct effective interviews with taxpayers and representatives
- Ability to travel overnight for assigned audits
