Full-time Visiting Faculty in German Language for
The Department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (RHIT) seeks candidates for a Visiting Assistant Professor of German. The individual hired will begin in August 2026 for a one-year appointment, with potential for a second-year extension based on department needs for the academic year.
Candidates will either be ABD or hold a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in German language, pedagogy, linguistics, German Studies, literature, or other related discipline at the time of employment. Successful candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching.
Essential job functions include classroom teaching, research and other professional development activities, and service to the department. The candidate will teach German language classes at a range of student proficiency levels.
The mission of RHIT is to offer students "the world's best undergraduate science, engineering and mathematics education in an environment of individual attention and support." Our campus in west-central Indiana is home to 2,100 students with a passion for learning. The visiting assistant professor will join a multidisciplinary liberal arts department that teaches all Rose-Hulman students, offering many popular minors-including German-and a second major in International Studies.
