PT - Learning Resource Center Tutor

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) is dedicated to empowering students by providing academic support that stimulates critical thinking and nurtures the development of academic independence. Ivy Tech Community College - Terre Haute Main Campus is recruiting for an on-campus, outstanding Academic Tutor to join our team. This position is open to candidates with strong academic skills and the ability to tutor at least some level of either math or English, as these are the areas of greatest student demand.

Applicants with the ability to tutor additional subject areas beyond math and English are strongly encouraged to apply, as this flexibility helps the Learning Resource Center better support a wide range of student needs.

Tutor

Job Responsibilities:

* Provide one on one and small group tutoring sessions in assigned subject areas.

* Assist students with coursework, study strategies, concept development, and academic skill building.

* Promote academic integrity and model responsible academic behavior.

* Help students build confidence and develop effective study skills.

* Collaborate with faculty and LRC staff to align tutoring support with course expectations.

* Maintain accurate tutoring records in Trac Cloud.

* Refer students to additional academic resources when appropriate.

* Other duties as assigned.

$15.00 an hour - up to 28 hours per week

Eligible for fee remission (tuition) of 6 credit hours per semester after 6 months of active employment.

Qualifications:

* Minimum of a B or higher in at least one college level math or English course.

* Ability to tutor students in common entry level math and or composition related coursework

* Additional tutoring capability in science, technology, or other academic disciplines is highly preferred.

* Strong communication skills and a patient, student centered approach.

* Dependable, professional, and emotionally mature.

* Comfortable working independently and collaboratively as part of a learning support team.
