Assistant Professor of Clinical Anatomy, Cell Biology, and Physiology

Overview

The Indiana University School of Medicine–Terre Haute (IUSM–TH) invites applications for a non-tenure track, 12‑month faculty appointment at the Assistant Clinical Professor level.

The candidate will be involved in multiple aspects of medical student education including teaching in pre‑clinical courses, mentoring students, serving on local and statewide medical and/or graduate student committees, and providing input to medical and graduate training programs. The position will have additional focus on advancing medical student scholarship on campus by supporting students’ scholarship endeavors, including through the IUSM-TH’s Scholarly Concentrations.

The position will report directly to the IUSM–TH Campus Director and will be responsible for advancing the training, teaching, and student scholarship missions of IUSM–TH, primarily within the pre‑clinical curriculum.

The standard workload for this position divides time among these responsibilities: 70% teaching, 20% education research and 10% service.

• Doctorate or terminal degree required.
• Hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree.
• Demonstrate teaching experience at an MD‑ or DO‑granting medical school (experience as a graduate student is acceptable).
• Expertise in anatomy instruction, including training and experience with cadaveric dissection, as well as familiarity with lab preparation and operations, preferably within a medical curriculum.
• Experience in the design and implementation of educational scholarship, including prior collaborations with MD and/or DO students.
• Experience collaborating with research and/or clinical faculty is preferred.
• Understanding of pedagogy as it relates to medical education.
• Focus on educational scholarship with experience mentoring learners.
• Experience collaborating with professionals in a complex organization.
• Ability to integrate administrative, educational, and teaching responsibilities.
• Outstanding communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with faculty from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.
• Ability and desire to contribute to the research and/or service missions of IUSM-TH.
