Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site Pipeline/Fabrication Estimator role based in the Greater Terre Haute Area. The estimator will review engineering drawings, specifications, and bid documents to quantify materials, labor, and equipment required for pipeline and fabrication projects. Daily responsibilities include preparing detailed cost estimates, developing take-offs, and creating bid proposals that align with project requirements and company standards. The role involves collaborating with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams to validate assumptions, clarify scope, and identify constructability considerations.
The estimator will obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, track historical cost data, and support negotiations to ensure competitive and accurate pricing. Additional tasks may include participating in pre-bid meetings, responding to RFIs, updating estimating tools or databases, and assisting with handoff to project execution teams after award.
- Experience in construction or industrial estimating, with a focus on pipeline, mechanical, or structural steel fabrication.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and cost modeling skills, including quantity take-offs and labor/equipment calculations.
- Familiarity with estimating software, spreadsheets, and basic project management tools.
- Knowledge of construction methods, welding and fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards.
- Commitment to safety practices and understanding of applicable construction codes and regulations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and clients.
- Ability to prioritize multiple bids, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Prior field or shop experience in pipeline, fabrication, or heavy industrial construction is highly beneficial.
