You perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and PLC issues, and support reliable, safe production operations across a multi-story facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on mechanical maintenance on dry food processing and packaging equipment, with approximately 80% of work focused on mechanical systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot high-speed food processing and packaging machinery to quickly identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve PLC-related problems, including basic PLC troubleshooting for control systems.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on equipment and systems, excluding 3-phase 480V, to restore proper function.
  • Carry out occasional welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify equipment and components as needed.
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to guide maintenance, repair, and installation activities.
  • Maintain and repair motors, conveyors, and conveyor systems, including installation and alignment of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Support industrial maintenance activities across multiple floors, ensuring conveyors and equipment between levels operate safely and efficiently.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintenance best practices while working in an industrial food manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to prioritize work orders and communicate equipment status.
  • Document maintenance work performed, including repairs, parts used, and preventative maintenance tasks completed.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial environment, with a strong emphasis on mechanical, hands-on maintenance (approximately 80% mechanical).
  • Demonstrated background in preventative maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting high-speed food processing and packaging equipment.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and work from schematics and blueprints for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience, particularly in industrial control applications.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills for industrial equipment, excluding 3-phase 480V systems.
  • Experience with motors, conveyor systems, and industrial installations.
  • Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, from 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM, with possible overtime on Fridays.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley controls and related industrial automation components.
  • Background in installation and repair of conveyor systems in multi-story facilities.
  • Exposure to welding and fabrication techniques for equipment repair and modification.
  • Comfort working with dry food processing equipment in an industrial environment.
  • Willingness to participate in in-house training and ongoing skills development.

Why Work Here?

Employees benefit from a supportive culture that values growth, development, and teamwork. The organization offers vacation time, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement to encourage work-life balance and continued education. Team picnics and events foster a sense of community, while in-house training provides ongoing opportunities to build technical skills and advance within the maintenance function.

Work Environment

The role is based in a food manufacturing facility where you work as a Maintenance Technician on 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM, with potential overtime on Fridays. The facility spans four stories, with conveyors connecting each floor, and you regularly move between levels to service equipment. The building is air-conditioned but can be dusty due to dry food ingredients, so you should be comfortable working in an industrial environment with these conditions.

You work around high-speed processing and packaging equipment, motors, conveyors, and industrial control systems, following appropriate safety and cleanliness standards for food manufacturing.
