Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift
This role is a 2nd shift Maintenance Technician position in an industrial dry food manufacturing environment. You maintain and repair high-speed food processing and packaging equipment with a strong focus on mechanical, hands-on work. You perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and PLC issues, and support reliable, safe production operations across a multi-story facility.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on mechanical maintenance on dry food processing and packaging equipment, with approximately 80% of work focused on mechanical systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Troubleshoot high-speed food processing and packaging machinery to quickly identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
- Diagnose and resolve PLC-related problems, including basic PLC troubleshooting for control systems.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting on equipment and systems, excluding 3-phase 480V, to restore proper function.
- Carry out occasional welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify equipment and components as needed.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation to guide maintenance, repair, and installation activities.
- Maintain and repair motors, conveyors, and conveyor systems, including installation and alignment of mechanical and electrical components.
- Support industrial maintenance activities across multiple floors, ensuring conveyors and equipment between levels operate safely and efficiently.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintenance best practices while working in an industrial food manufacturing environment.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to prioritize work orders and communicate equipment status.
- Document maintenance work performed, including repairs, parts used, and preventative maintenance tasks completed.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial environment, with a strong emphasis on mechanical, hands-on maintenance (approximately 80% mechanical).
- Demonstrated background in preventative maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
- Experience maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting high-speed food processing and packaging equipment.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Ability to read and work from schematics and blueprints for mechanical and electrical systems.
- PLC troubleshooting experience, particularly in industrial control applications.
- Electrical troubleshooting skills for industrial equipment, excluding 3-phase 480V systems.
- Experience with motors, conveyor systems, and industrial installations.
- Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, from 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM, with possible overtime on Fridays.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Allen-Bradley controls and related industrial automation components.
- Background in installation and repair of conveyor systems in multi-story facilities.
- Exposure to welding and fabrication techniques for equipment repair and modification.
- Comfort working with dry food processing equipment in an industrial environment.
- Willingness to participate in in-house training and ongoing skills development.

Work Environment
The role is based in a food manufacturing facility where you work as a Maintenance Technician on 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM, with potential overtime on Fridays. The facility spans four stories, with conveyors connecting each floor, and you regularly move between levels to service equipment. The building is air-conditioned but can be dusty due to dry food ingredients, so you should be comfortable working in an industrial environment with these conditions.
You work around high-speed processing and packaging equipment, motors, conveyors, and industrial control systems, following appropriate safety and cleanliness standards for food manufacturing.
