Groundskeeper

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has an opening in Facilities for a Groundskeeper. We have been ranked No. 1 among U.S. engineering colleges by the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Guide for the last 27 consecutive years.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mow lawns, trim weeds, bushes, shrubs, and hedges, and rake leaves as assigned.
• Pick up and remove trash prior to mowing a designated area.
• Prepare soil and plant flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs.
• Plant trees and prune when necessary.
• Apply fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides as directed.
• Complete snow removal tasks during winter months, such as shoveling sidewalks, steps, and doorways.
• Operate snowblower or snowplow to clear roads, driveways, and parking lots.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of professional work experience.
• Ability to use hand tools for landscaping.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.

Preferred:

• Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
• Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.
• Excellent time management skills.

The above requirements are essential; preferences are a plus.

Pay range is $17.00/hour - $19.50/hour; higher pay may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
