The Plant Quality Manager is the quality advocate for the plant, providing leadership for the quality and food safety systems and programs. Key drivers are assuring compliance to specifications on incoming materials, in-process conditions and finished products, while continuously reducing quality attribute variation through Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodology.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a safety leader, working with the EHS Manager to establish and maintain safety policies and programs.
- Manage the elements of the Quality Management System, including quality action plans, customer complaints, internal holds, standard work, audit processes, document control, test methods, and quality test equipment.
- Provide training and ensure plant systems align with corporate standards through reviews and audits.
- Generate scorecards and reports covering VOC, CARs, SCARs, COAs, SPC reporting, losses, and internal and third‑party audits.
- Ensure food safety and quality systems meet all customer specifications, internal and regulatory requirements (ISO, GMP, FDA, Food Safety, Medical, Pharma, etc.).
- Conduct advanced statistical analysis and process capability assessments for process and product quality.
- Independently manage customer interactions related to product or service quality.
- Identify, define, and promote awareness of customer requirements for the plant.
- Manage and train the Quality Team, including lab and quality technicians.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, establishing a culture of continuous improvement.
- Serve as an active member of the plant leadership team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- ASQ CMQ/QE or ASQ CQE certification strongly preferred.
- 7–10 years of manufacturing experience, including QA/QC and operations/production roles.
- 2–3 years of demonstrated achievement in a Quality Leadership position.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification or willingness to obtain such certification.
- Proficient in quality and problem‑solving tools such as statistical analysis, DOE, Pareto charts, and histograms.
- Strong project management experience.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and decision‑making skills.
- Proficiency in PC-based tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook; ERP experience is a plus.
