Position SummaryThe Patient Accounts Assistant is an essential member of the Patient Accounts Department. You will use your detail-oriented approach and problem-solving abilities to handle patient and vendor information, respond to patient questions, and assist with department reporting. The Assistant maintains accurate records of interactions, payments, and account updates, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. This position interfaces internally with the accounts department and externally with patients and various company vendors.
ReportingStructure, Hours, and Work Environment
The Patient Accounts Assistant reports to the Patient Accounts Manager. The position reports to the Terrell corporate office. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Daily tasks are performed at a computer, requiring frequent use of hands and fingers for data entry while sitting or standing at a desk.
How You Will Contribute- Prepare and distribute daily departmental reports and related information
- Perform outbound calls as needed to obtain insurance information
- Provide support for incoming phone calls as required
- Ensure adherence to state and federal collections regulations, as well as HIPAA compliance
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least one year of customer service experience is preferred
- Proficiency in general computer use, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge and use of HIPAA regulations is preferred
- Comfortable with interfacing with diverse personalities
- Professional phone etiquette
- Communication:
