Job DescriptionThe Lead Ortho Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of assisting duties while promoting quality dental care for our patients and a safe environment of minimal stress. The Lead Ortho Assistant is required to assist the doctor, teach patients how to care for their teeth, communicate effectively with patients (parents if patient is a child), and follow universal precautions and all OSHA requirements.
This Lead RDA will also be responsible for ordering, assisting in training of new sterile techs, assigning duties, and ensuring that the back office runs efficiently and effectively. This position requires working Saturdays.
- One year of Ortho Assisting Experience
- Dental Assistant License
- CPR Certification
- Bilingual a plus, but not required

- Set up and seat patients for the doctor; ensure rooms are properly stocked, cleaned, and set up for treatment; provide great patient care while following protocols for setting up patients.
- Lead and train team members with encouragement, respect, and understanding; lead by example.
- Ensure supplies are ordered and equipment is running correctly; troubleshoot problems in the clinic.
- Document patient notes correctly and initialize forms; ensure consents, medical clearances, and prescriptions are completed.
- Assist the doctor chair‑side with all procedures in a cheerful manner.
- Maintain medical records; ensure all records are received for patient and release records to providers/patients as needed.
- Assist the doctor by using appropriate materials and instruments while treating patients; follow all OSHA and Practice Safety Precautions; take radiographs accurately to reduce retakes and radiation exposure.
- Ensure that treatment plans and charges are properly assigned to patients, and discounts are applied correctly.
