TheOpportunity
This position will perform intermediate work at renewable energy projects including solar PV and energy storage power plants as assigned and will independently maintain, test, and troubleshoot AC and DC circuits ranging from medium voltage 34.5kV to 12
VDC. The equipment that this position will maintain includes station service electrical equipment such as motors and motor controls, electrical switch gear, transformers, inverters, solar PV panels, panel tracking mechanisms, BESS systems, electrical protective devices, main and auxiliary generators, lighting, power supplies, HVAC systems, security systems and battery support systems. The position will be responsible for troubleshooting and overhauling such equipment and for performing preventative and predictive maintenance activities for the aforementioned equipment.
You'll Do at Enel North America
- Independently test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a range of moderately complex issues with solar or BESS equipment.
- Replace solar PV power plant related electrical equipment with some autonomy.
- Test, maintain, troubleshoot, and replace battery energy storage power plant related electrical equipment.
- Perform plant‑related preventative, reactive, and predictive maintenance scheduled by the Site Manager and/or Lead Technician.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and safe maintenance activities.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, such as first aid, fall arrest, electrical safety training, while working with electrical equipment.
- Proficiently read and interpret electrical schematics, equipment manuals and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services and maintenance performed as needed.
- Apply reliability‑based maintenance processes and work toward certifications such as CMRT/CMRP.
- Gather technical information from reading electrical schematics, vendor information, and applicable codes.
- Respond to and resolve unplanned time‑sensitive equipment and site repair activities.
- Technical school preferred; high school or equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience.
- Electrical experience preferred, but not required.
- TX electrician license or related certification.
- Ability to proficiently use electrical testing equipment such as digital multimeters, amp clamps, and insulation testers.
- Read and interpret electrical plan sets, equipment manuals and standard operating procedures with increasing understanding.
- Comfortable with computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Office) and the ability to learn other internal applications.
- Apply LOTO principles with independence.
- Proactively use required personal protective equipment consistently in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Prepare job safety analysis and perform safety observations.
- Willingness to work outside of regular work hours if required.
- Ability and willingness to travel for training and/or site support as needed.
- Availability of safe and reliable transportation to and from the job site and a residence within a 1‑hour drive of assigned plant location.
- Ability and willingness to occasionally safely lift up to 50 lbs. (assisted when needed).
- Safely use unpowered and powered hand tools.
- A valid driver’s license operable in all 50 states and a clean driving record. A clean driving record means: in the last 3 years, no driving‑related suspension, revocation or cancellation, no disqualifying offenses, no more than 2 moving violations and no reckless driving incidents; in the last 5 years, no major driving offences including DUI/DWI, refusal to test, leaving the scene, driving a commercial vehicle without a CDL, or at‑fault fatal accident.
