Job Summary
Maintenance Technician responsible for performing inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostic testing, repairs, and project support on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and other industrial equipment.
Essential Functions- Perform inspections and extensive preventive maintenance as directed, including cleaning, lubricating, belt replacement, filter changes, fluid checks, drive and motor inspection, and other checklist items.
- Conduct detailed diagnostic tests, routine repairs, troubleshooting, and adjustments on equipment and facilities.
- Inspect, adjust, and replace components such as valves, pistons, bolts, main bearing assemblies, motors, control systems, pneumatic, hydraulic, and resistance welding systems.
- Carry out general mechanical overhaul and repair work on motors and control systems.
- Perform minor welding, modify equipment, and fabricate parts as required.
- Manage in-depth diagnostic tests and major repairs, including visual inspection of hydraulic lines, gauge reading, odor detection, disassembly, replacement, and reassembly.
- Use testing equipment and read displays or computer readouts to diagnose malfunctions.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and complete assigned daily work orders.
- Assist with the installation of new equipment and renovation/remodeling of buildings or workstations.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and ensure clean work areas after maintenance or repair.
- Obtain correct replacement parts from inventory or advise the Parts Room Clerk when ordering is required.
- Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment, tools, and supplies efficiently.
- Provide direction of work to lower‑level personnel when required.
- Mentor lower‑level maintenance employees and equipment operators on maintenance issues.
- Keep a safe and clean working environment by following applicable procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contribute to team effort and communicate in a professional, courteous manner with vendors, contractors, customers, and employees.
- Remain compliant with all work‑related ethical standards.
- General knowledge of OSHA and HAZMAT regulations (certification preferred).
- Thorough knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment; ability to read schematics and blueprints.
- First aid knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Strong mechanical and electrical technical aptitude.
- Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, equipment manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Basic knowledge of industrial power systems, electricity, and oil & gas machinery.
- Ability to operate cutting torches or welding equipment.
- Ability to use inspection, test, monitor, and measurement equipment to assess environmental levels.
- Ability to locate, diagnose, and repair major mechanical malfunctions.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to respond to emergency and non‑emergency situations.
- Ability to work long hours, weekends, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to wear protective equipment such as safety glasses.
- Ability to work and concentrate in a noisy environment.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical certifications in welding, pipe fitting, general motor repair, hydraulics, and pneumatics preferred. Minimum five years of mechanical maintenance experience or an associate degree in mechanical engineering.
Work EnvironmentManufacturing plant with extreme temperature fluctuations, dust, and noise. Exposure to electrical shock risk and adverse weather conditions. Work may involve heights, traffic, and heavy equipment.
