Position Overview:
The Special Education Para educator will work collaboratively with certified special education teachers to support the academic, behavioral, and social development of students in grades K-5. The individual will provide one-on-one and small group instruction, implement specialized teaching strategies, and assist in the creation and adaptation of educational materials to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.

Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under the guidance of certified special education teachers and BCBA.
- Support students in developing independent learning skills and self-management strategies.
- Assist in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Monitor student behavior and provide feedback to the teacher regarding student progress and needs.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other school staff to support the overall development and progress of students.
- Assist in the preparation and adaptation of educational materials and resources to meet the individual learning needs of students.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must have taken and passed the Para Pro test or have 2 years full time post-secondary education (minimum 60 credits) or Associate's Degree or higher.
- Preference will be given to candidates pursuing or interested in becoming a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), but all individuals passionate about working with students are encouraged to apply.
- Consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Previous experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.
- Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending, kneeling and therapeutic holding as required.
