Job Overview
Our client, a well-established manufacturing business, is seeking a skilled Electrical Installation & Test Engineer to join its Engineering Department. This is a hands‑on position supporting the reliability and safety of production and distribution equipment through planned maintenance, reactive repairs, electrical installation and testing.
Working with a range of machinery and automated systems, the successful candidate will require strong diagnostic abilities, sound electrical knowledge and a proactive approach to maintaining site operations.
Key Responsibilities of an Electrical Installation & Test Engineer
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across the production and distribution site
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and provide reactive maintenance support
- Fault-find, repair and test electrical and mechanical plant equipment
- Complete electrical installation work involving single-phase and three-phase systems
- Ensure all work complies with electrical regulations, inspection procedures and testing requirements
- Support electrical improvement and installation projects across the site
- Conduct scheduled inspections, lubrication and general machinery maintenance
- Complete annual emergency lighting and electrical distribution testing
- Work closely with the Engineering Manager to review and adapt maintenance schedules
- Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance, testing and installation work
- Follow all company health and safety policies and safe working procedures
Key Skills of an Electrical Installation & Test Engineer
Essential
- Qualified Electrical Engineer with a strong electrical bias
- City & Guilds 2391-51 in Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, including Amendment 2
- Level 3 Award in Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
- Experience maintaining, repairing and testing industrial machinery
- Knowledge of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems
- Able to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Self-motivated, reliable and committed to high standards of workmanship and safety
Desirable
- Previous experience working with automated or high-speed machinery
- Experience with in an FMCG, food production or manufacturing environment
- Mechanical maintenance and fault-finding capabilities
- Experience supporting electrical installation and site improvement projects
