Job Summary
The Accountant is responsible for supporting various aspects of the financial cycle and accounting management of the company. Reporting to the Manager of Accounting and Finance, the Accountant assists in maintaining General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, supports in all closing activities, payables, receivables, cash activities and other duties while assuring performance in accord with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies and procedures.
This position is generally accountable for working alongside and supporting the Senior Accountant in provision of records, financial reports, general ledgers, analysis and preparation of budgets, billing activities such as accounts payable and receivable, production of forms, maintenance of schedules and support etc.
- Assist accounting department for all revenue as well as sales/use tax related inquiries
- Execute and maintain all general ledger accounting functions (prepare asset, liability and capital account entries, maintain files and records by documenting all financial transactions, reconcile accounts)
- Provide formal mentorship to accounts receivable/payable team members
- Support and perform monthly, quarterly and annual close activities
- Record monthly revenues, perform monthly reconciliations, prepare review and analyze monthly financial statements
- Support and perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, (including bank statements) fixed assets, employer benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses
- Analyze and interpret accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, trends and all matters impacting the effectiveness of operations
- Perform processing of functional and benefits expense allocations, monthly accruals, fixed asset depreciation and recording and adjusting and reclassification of journal entries if necessary
- Assist in monitoring and collecting data to assess accuracy and integrity; analyze data; ensure compliance with applicable standards (GAAP), rules, regulations and system of internal controls; interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation, create final reports/presentations
- Provide support for accurate maintenance of chart of accounts
- Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
- Assist and support all audit or tax preparation functions as required
- Provide financial advice and analysis to management
- Provide training to accounting staff as needed
- Maintain current on accounting standards and regulations
- Secure financial operations by monitoring and approving financial processing, reporting, and auditing
- Provide quarterly budget to actual updates
- Meet accounting financial standards by providing accounting department annual budget information, monitoring expenditures, identifying variances, and implementing corrective actions
- Approve cash disbursements by verifying check amounts against invoices, and authorizing checks and wire transfers
- Approve ledger entries by auditing transactions
- Renew business insurance by scheduling values, including personnel and real property, vehicles, computers, equipment, media, and accounts receivable
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business (mathematical/computational skills required)
- 3-4+ years related experience (capital equipment manufacturing or semi-conductor experience preferred) w/increasing responsibility and demonstrated goal achievement
- Strong organizational skills- attention to detail and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Excellent analytical and Problem-Solving skills
- ERP experience a plus
- Must be comfortable working independently as well as with others, operate effectively in a team environment- including your direct team and other company staff, as well as customer teams. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as problem solving and identification (ie: cost analysis) are essential
