Raytheon is seeking a talented and motivated Systems Engineer to join our Surface Radars and Radars team within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) Discipline, supporting a range of sensor and effector programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of the product, from concept development to deployment.
Every day will bring new challenges, requiring collaboration across disciplines to troubleshoot issues, perform data analysis, and implement solutions. Your contributions will directly impact the success of mission-critical defense systems, and you’ll have a hands‑on role in ensuring the entire system functions seamlessly.
What You Will DoIn this Systems Engineer role, you will support the following activities:
- Core Systems Engineering:
Develop system requirements, radar software requirements, radar processing algorithms, concepts of operations, and define system interfaces. - Concept Development:
Develop concepts of operations (CONOPS) for radar systems in support of mission needs. - Radar Algorithm & Analysis:
Perform radar processing algorithm development and conduct statistical and numerical analysis of radar performance data. - Analysis Tool Development:
Develop analysis tools to support problem identification, troubleshooting, and system performance evaluation. - Lead Testing Efforts:
Develop and implement test plans, procedures, integration, and verification documentation in both simulated and real-world environments. - Troubleshoot and Analyze:
Identify and resolve hardware, software, and system issues through detailed data analysis and debugging. - Drive Performance:
Collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to develop and implement solutions that improve system performance and resolve issues. - Modeling and Simulation:
Develop and execute models to predict system performance and support verification and validation activities. - Integrate Systems:
Integrate hardware and software into tactical radar systems, evaluating functionality and operational impact. - Collaborate and Lead:
Work with and lead multi-disciplinary teams to achieve seamless system integration and functionality. - Document and Communicate:
Develop integration documentation, execute plans, analyze data, verify requirements, and effectively communicate results to leadership and stakeholders. - Present Findings:
Present technical findings, analyses, and solutions to leadership and customers. - Support Missions:
Travel as needed (up to 20%) to support mission execution at RTX facilities, test sites, vendor facilities, and customer locations. - This role can be based out of Marlborough, MA or Tewksbury, MA.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience with systems software, systems hardware, systems requirements, systems integration, and/or systems test.
- Experience with C++, Python, MATLAB and/or similar programming languages.
- Experience with the design, development, and analysis of radar system and software architectures on DoD systems.
- Experience with radar processing algorithms, radar software requirements, and performance analysis, including development of supporting analysis tools.
- Experience with signal processing techniques in complex propagation environments.
- Experience developing and managing requirements using DOORS, Rhapsody, Cameo, or other digital engineering tools, including application of model-based and digital engineering practices.
- Experience evaluating radar or sensor systems using simulated environments to support verification and validation.
- Experience generating technical documentation such as test plans, procedures, or technical reports.
- Experience working in an integration lab, test facility, or field environment supporting integration and/or verification.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and interfacing with internal and external customers, including presentation of technical results.
