Raytheon is currently seeking a Principal Electrical & Electronics (E&E) Engineer – Sensor Test Development to join the Sensor Test Solutions (STS) Department. The role focuses on developing, building, and integrating advanced test platforms and architectures for analog/digital, RF, high‑power, and embedded software/firmware applications. The engineer will manage the full lifecycle of test solution design, from requirements definition through verification and final system sell‑off in a production or field/depot environment.
This position is 100% onsite in Tewksbury, MA.
- Work with internal and external partners on the design and deployment of complex factory test systems
- Lead development of test hardware, software, and/or firmware through its development cycle, from requirements definition through deployment at manufacturing or customer facilities
- Oversee test capabilities that span Power, RF, Analog, and Digital disciplines across hardware, software, and firmware domains
- Collaborate with Prime Engineering, Production, and Operations teams early in the development cycle to identify capability and capacity needs for manufacturing test and ensure smooth deployment to manufacturing facilities
- Identify test readiness issues and optimizations throughout the development lifecycle
- Lead medium‑to‑large sized teams to meet project budget, schedule, and performance commitments
- Provide technical leadership to employees in support of specific work assignments
- Engage in personal technical growth and mentor peers and junior engineers
- Prepare and present project status to functional and program leadership
- Understand and report financial and earned‑value status for the monthly reporting cycle
- Proactively manage and mitigate risks and opportunities
- Support manufacturing operations, including on‑site troubleshooting and debugging, both independently and in collaboration with design engineering teams
- Contribute to cost, schedule, and technical solutions for bid and proposal development
Must Have:
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- Experience with electrical, software, hardware, mechanical, and/or multi‑discipline engineering in a design and development environment, with direct experience in test equipment design and development tasks
- Experience leading technical teams and/or projects
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance prior to start date
- U.S. citizenship (required for security clearance)
Prefer:
- Experience with project management tools such as MS Project, Jira/Confluence, and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tracking software
- Experience with decision‑making and problem‑solving skills
- Experience with National Instruments’ Test Stand, Lab Windows/CVI, and/or LabVIEW for digital, analog, RF, or power supply test hardware design
- Experience with routine use and/or automation of commercial test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, network analyzers, power supplies, etc.)
