- Execute the safety strategy for the program to meet all its milestones with system safety integrated into the product in compliance with contract and awarded funding.
- Support the program schedule and integrated system safety tasks and activities into program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
- Engage the Lead System Safety Engineer and Portfolio Engineering Lead for guidance on technical execution, artifact review, attending customer reviews, etc.
- Support multi-IPT program meetings to ensure that system safety items are considered and to understand current program-wide issues.
- Ensure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and planned mitigations.
- Meet internal and external commitments (deliveries).
- Own technical solutions and collaborate across IPTs to realize the solution that makes the overall product development and test successful.
- Analyzing engineering software and/or firmware in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, and other relevant standards.
- Working with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code.
- Participating in the execution of the Software System Safety Program.
- Interfacing with various stakeholders, including customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Assisting with the preparation of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval.
- Assisting with software safety technical reviews.
- Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
- Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of product architecture and design.
- Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience with systems, software or test engineering.
- Experience with test equipment & test equipment safety, in a laboratory setting.
- Experience performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400).
- Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program.
- Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations.
- Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines.
- Experience interfacing with other engineering functions:
Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering. - Experience managing Working Groups.
