NonDestructive Test Engineer II

Overview

The Materials & Process Engineering (MPE) section is seeking a Nondestructive Test Engineer II to work in the Non‑Destructive Testing Group at our Tewksbury, MA facility.

Location:

50 Apple Hill Dr, Concord BLDG, Tewksbury MA 30073. Position type:
Onsite. Eligibility: U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person. Security clearance:
DoD Secret active after day 1.

• Perform various non‑destructive testing tasks to support production operations, developmental design, and failure analysis.
• Conduct onsite inspections of hardware and travel to perform evaluations offsite upon request.
• Develop new inspection techniques for qualified methods and collaborate with engineers to create test plans, proper sequencing, and validate inspection setups.
• Manage a wide variety of tasks within schedule and budget constraints.
• Analyze and interpret test results, communicate findings to engineering customers, and document results in engineering reports.
• Travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.
• Work a 2nd shift when required.

• University degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.
• NAS 410 Level2 certification (or equivalent) in at least two methods (Ultrasonic, Radiography, Magnetic Particle, and Fluorescent Penetrant).
• Experience using multiple NDT methods, including Digital Radiography, Film Radiography, Ultrasonic Testing (Contact, Immersion, CSAM), Acoustic Microscopy, and Penetrant Testing.
• Experience interpreting and developing NDT procedures and technique sheets.
• Strong background in NDT of aerospace products, such as composites, castings, welds, braze joints, microcircuits, and computer card assemblies.
• Knowledge of ESD protection and other failure analysis equipment (Digital/Optical Microscopes, Laser Milling, Die Shear/Bond Pull machine, Plasma Etching).
• Ability to work effectively under stress in a high‑demand environment and communicate clearly under duress.
• Self‑motivated, excellent documentation and technical writing skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Working knowledge of military, aerospace, microcircuits, and commercial materials and process specifications (e.g., ASTM E1742, ASTM E2698, AMS
  2175, ASTM E1444, ASTM E1417).
