What You Will DoThis is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Principal System Safety Engineer to join us onsite in Tewksbury, MA as a Safety Lead with proven experience in executing all aspects of system safety.
- Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
- Understanding of thesafetybudget and tasking through coordination withthe responsible CAM/IPTL/product owner, including EACs.
- Mentor junior safety engineers.
- Actively engage in engineering review boards to stay on top of design changes and assess impacts to the established safety program.
- Establish on-going feedback loopwithfunctionalandprogrammanagement.
- Lead & coordinate System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives.
- Interpret system requirements, customerspecificationsand military standards, to recommend compliance strategies to program leadership
- Working across integrated teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across a range of engineering functionstoidentifyand mitigate risks
- Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance.
- Collaborate with Program Management and government approval authorities from design, fabrication, integration and test, production to demilitarization and disposal phases
- Manage safety-related interactions with suppliers and/or subcontractors.
- Understand and shape system safety across the lifecycle (design, integration/ test, flight test, production, field, returns).
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882/DO-178
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
- Experience with briefing at the military safety review board, Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, System Safety Working Groups
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
