Principal Linux System Administrator
Principal Linux System Administrator based in Tewksbury, MA, also known as Principal Analyst – Infrastructure, collaborates with many teams to support critical programs that handle classified information. The role requires developing, implementing, and maintaining secure, cost‑efficient environments across a range of classified programs.
Responsibilities- Provide systems administration on heterogeneous Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows platforms.
- Configure and manage Linux fundamentals and Windows Server internals, including Ansible, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, AD, and server replication.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and operating systems, including RAID arrays and backup technologies.
- Install and configure software applications on behalf of end users.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements, produce documentation, and deliver training.
- Develop solutions and documentation to solve a variety of technical problems.
- Support 24/7 system operations, including occasional work outside standard hours.
- Travel up to 10% to other U.S. domestic locations as business needs dictate.
- Obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 certifications (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) within six months of start date.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Must obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
- Proven experience with Linux systems.
- Experience with LDAP/Active Directory, VMware, MySQL, or networking administration.
- Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.
- CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent, and an operating system certification.
- Experience with VMware vCenter, vSphere, ESX, or other virtual computing methods.
- Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS, and/or DoD/RMF.
- Knowledge of NIST or DoD security frameworks.
- Experience with NAS/SAN storage technologies and solutions.
- Experience with IT project lifecycle management processes.
- Experience with Microsoft WSUS, MECM, or Exchange.
- High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.
- Scripting experience.
- Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
Salary range: 86,800
USD–165,200
USD. Additional incentive compensation may be available at the discretion of the company.
Full‑time, 100% onsite position in Tewksbury, MA. Travel up to 10% to other U.S. domestic locations.
