Role Summary
Leidos is seeking a System Test Engineer Contractor to support testing and validation of airport checkpoint security screening systems. This role is responsible for verifying that integrated hardware, software, subsystems, and operational workflows meet functional, performance, reliability, and operational requirements. The position is primarily lab-based and requires hands-on work with airport screening equipment, test workstations, software applications, and system components.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute system, integration, verification, and validation testing for airport checkpoint screening systems.
- Perform hands-on testing in a controlled system integration and test lab environment.
- Operate and monitor airport checkpoint screening equipment and associated test hardware.
- Configure and execute detailed test scenarios following established test procedures.
- Document test execution results accurately and completely.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and system integration issues during testing.
- Perform Linux and Windows system setup, configuration verification, log collection, and system status validation.
- Identify abnormal system behavior and support issue investigation.
- Work with engineering, quality, operations, and program teams to resolve testing issues.
- Support system qualification, customer demonstrations, acceptance testing, and formal test events.
- Handle test articles, including checkpoint bags weighing approximately 20 pounds.
- Follow all laboratory safety procedures and testing protocols.
Required Technical Skills
- Experience with system testing, integration testing, verification and validation, or related engineering test activities.
- Experience testing integrated hardware/software systems or complex electromechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
- Basic operating system troubleshooting, including:
- System status verification
- Configuration verification
- Identification of abnormal system behavior
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to execute detailed test procedures and accurately document results.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment, system components, and operational test environments.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience testing airport checkpoint, security screening, detection, imaging, scanning, or transportation security systems.
- Windows system tools, services, drivers, software installation, and system logs.
- Experience with Azure Dev Ops, Jira, or similar defect tracking tools.
- Experience mapping test cases to system requirements.
- Networking fundamentals, including IP configuration, connectivity verification, and device communication troubleshooting.
- Experience using system diagnostic utilities, data collection tools, and testing equipment.
- Experience supporting qualification testing, customer demonstrations, and acceptance testing.
- Basic understanding of sensors, imaging systems, software, hardware, and electromechanical systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (required).
- Experience performing system testing, integration testing, verification, and validation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to work safely within controlled laboratory environments.
- Ability to lift and move test articles weighing approximately 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- No security clearance required.
