Senior Software Development Engineer

Position Overview

Senior Software Development Engineer focused on developing Simulation applications in C/C++ at RTX’s Patriot Software Development Team in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications using C/C++ for complex systems.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define, design, and implement new features, ensuring system integration and scalability.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code for performance and efficiency.
• Write and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system architecture and design specifications.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards and best practices.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in C/C++ technologies.
• Perform light travel and off‑hours testing (2nd or 3rd shift) when required.
• Ensure exclusive onsite presence.

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Proven experience developing complex systems and applications using C/C++, ADA, Java or other object‑oriented language.
• Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Experience leading a team of engineers.
• Experience with requirement analysis and documentation.
• Experience developing hardware‑in‑loop simulators for embedded systems.
• U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret security clearance.

• Active Secret security clearance.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles, especially for high‑concurrency and distributed systems.
• Experience in embedded systems, real‑time systems, or large‑scale applications.
• Experience with multithreading, memory management, and performance optimization.
• Experience with network communication protocols, shell scripting (tcsh, csh, bash), version control (Git), and embedded RTOSs (e.g., VxWorks, Integrity).
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.

• Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200.
