The Environmental Specialist evaluates complex environmental issues, interprets regulatory requirements, develops compliance strategies, assesses environmental risk, and provides technical guidance to plant leadership. Working with considerable independence, this position serves as the primary resource for environmental permitting, regulatory reporting, environmental management systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities and Duties Environmental Compliance Interpret and apply federal, state, and local environmental regulations affecting manufacturing operations.
Evaluate new and revised environmental regulations and determine operational impacts.
Develop and implement compliance strategies that ensure adherence to applicable environmental requirements.
Maintain environmental permits and ensure permit conditions are effectively implemented throughout the facility.
Prepare and certify environmental reports submitted to regulatory agencies.
Serve as the facility's technical representative during regulatory inspections, audits, and agency inquiries.
Investigate environmental compliance issues and develop corrective and preventive actions.
Environmental Management Systems Maintain and continually improve the Environmental Management System (EMS) consistent with ISO 14001.Plan and conduct internal environmental audits.
Perform compliance assessments and environmental gap analyses.
Develop environmental policies, procedures, standards, and work instructions.
Air Quality Compliance Manage environmental compliance activities associated with:
Title V Operating Permit Air emission inventories
Emission calculations
Baghouses
Thermal oxidizers
Job Type:Full-Time8 hr. shifts

** The posted salary range is the anticipated starting range for the position. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors.
** Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Industrial Hygiene, or related scientific discipline.
Three or more years of environmental compliance experience in manufacturing or heavy industry.
Working knowledge of:
Clean Air Act Clean Water ActRCRAEPCRASPCCTSCAExperience interpreting environmental regulations.
Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposure to high temperatures, heavy machinery, and fast-paced operations.
Adherence to strict safety protocols and required use of PPE at all times.
