Regional Safety Superintendent
We are currently seeking a Regional Safety Superintendent to join our team. As a Regional Safety Superintendent, you will analyze and enhance workplace health and safety programs to create a safer, more compliant environment. You will evaluate existing safety management systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement strategic solutions to mitigate risk. Your expertise will drive the development of innovative hazard abatement programs, proactive risk management strategies, and action plans that protect employees while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular job site inspections to identify and correct safety hazards.
- Conduct Job Behavior Observations (JBOs) focusing on:
- The objectives of Safety Management.
- Observing and correcting unsafe acts and at‑risk behavior.
- Evaluating Foreperson knowledge of safety program.
- Identifying job site hazards.
- Evaluating Crew Foreperson knowledge of their safety training responsibilities.
- Observing and reporting on proper work techniques in accordance with the Foreperson’s Manual and Region policy Manual.
- Assist leadership and employees with hazard analysis and safety corrective actions.
- Lead accident, incident, and near‑miss investigations, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
- Oversee the implementation of safety training programs and ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Collaborate with regional management to develop and execute safety initiatives that align with corporate goals.
- Provide technical expertise and support to field teams, ensuring adherence to best practices in workplace safety.
- Maintain accurate records of safety audits, training sessions, and incident reports.
- Participate in safety meetings and teleconferences to share insights and address concerns.
- Oversee the data collection, input and distribution of reports of statistical information gained from JBO reports.
- Work with the regional office to monitor files for compliance with required documentation, as specified by corporate and region policy.
- Assist in the General Foreperson orientation process and mentoring program.
- Assist with the Incident Investigation process including:
- Reviewing reports to ensure appropriate documentation is complete.
- Assuring the investigation identifies root causes.
- Assisting the Regional Manager with the assignment of recommendations to individuals, and ensuring those recommendations are completed within specified dates.
- Completing OSHA 300 logs as required.
- Ensuring communications to Corporate Safety are completed.
- Conduct ride‑alongs with General Forepersons to ensure they understand:
- Compliance with Federal, State, and local EHS regulations.
- How to conduct a safety visit.
- How to conduct tailboards.
- Assure that General Forepersons implement:
- First Aid/CPR training.
- Lift School.
- Home Study Programs.
- Spanish documentation (when required).
- Regular Foreperson training meetings.
- Vehicle Loss Prevention Program.
- Assure regional compliance with:
- General Foreperson meeting requirements.
- Screening applicants for hire.
- Pre‑employment drug testing.
- New employee orientation.
- Background checks.
- Safety Management Process.
- Monitors and reviews claims and participates in claims management process.
- Inform and communicate with Corporate Safety contact on initiatives, activities, questions, concerns, and problem areas.
- Assist Manager in the establishment and implementation of regional safety goals.
- Advise Manager on health and safety related trends within the region.
- Keep abreast of federal, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations.
- Participate in audits of company sites for compliance with occupational health and safety programs.
- Provide safety coverage on emergency response work when requested by corporate and/or the Regional Manager.
- Participate in safety teleconference calls and industrial safety conferences, benchmarking top performing organizations for program improvements.
- Support the maintenance of EHS management information systems.
