The Chemistry Program within the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE) at Texas A&M University – Texarkana seeks an outstanding candidate for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Chemistry. The role requires a strong record of teaching Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, developing an externally funded research agenda, and providing university service. The successful candidate will advance high‑quality Chemistry courses and collaborate with faculty in CASE, while addressing student needs and supporting the Division Chair and Dean in implementing short‑ and long‑term goals.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses (9 credit hours per semester or 18 credit hours per academic year)
- Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines
- Contribute to curriculum and course development
- Perform scholarly activities
- Serve on department, college, and university committees as assigned by the Chair or Dean
- Serve on professional committees, as approved by the Dean
- Earned Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- At least 18 semester credit hours in Chemistry at the graduate level
- Ability to teach a range of chemistry courses, including lectures and laboratory courses
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and organizational skills
- Experience with student‑centered teaching
- Evidence of research experience and scholarship
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time of hire; no pre‑employment sponsorship is authorized
- Minimum five years of full‑time teaching experience at the college level, including lectures and laboratory sections
- Ability to teach Organic and Biochemistry courses within the Chemistry program
- Experience teaching upper‑ or lower‑division chemistry courses using current technology at the university level
- Active research agenda with two recent publications (within the last five years) and experience in competitive extramural funding
- Mentoring undergraduates in research projects leading to conference presentations or publications
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to assist with university and professional service activities, including national and international outreach and collaboration with industry and other academic institutions
- Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
