SummaryThe Psychology program, which resides within the Social and Behavioral Sciences department in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE) at Texas A&M University‑Texarkana (TAMUT), is seeking an outstanding candidate at the Assistant Professor rank for a tenure‑track position to begin Fall 2026. The area of specialization within psychology is open. Candidates must be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Statistics, Research Methods, and Experimental Psychology and maintain an active research agenda in their area of specialty.
Responsibilities- Teach a workload equal to 9 semester credit hours during each long semester.
- Up to 6 semester credit hours of summer teaching may be available, but is neither guaranteed nor required.
- Engage in a strong commitment to scholarship through professional, scholarly research that involves undergraduate and graduate students and by supervising master’s theses.
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees, contributing to curriculum development, program assessment, outreach, recruiting events, and student advising.
- Ph.D. or Psy.
D. in Psychology from a regionally accredited institution, Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from a regionally accredited institution, or ABD in any of the aforementioned from a regionally accredited institution at the time of application. - Eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time of hire. No pre‑employment sponsorship is authorized.
- Documented success teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Experience teaching with web‑enhanced or web‑based instruction.
- Evidence of scholarship with publications and an active research agenda.
- Experience engaging undergraduate and Master’s‑level students in research and/or other scholarly activities.
- Active membership in professional organizations.
- Willingness to relocate to Texarkana.
- Ability to teach developmental psychology courses (e.g., Lifespan Development, Death and Dying).
- Position does not supervise employees.
- Open until filled.
