JOB DESCRIPTION

Nurse’s Assistant (LVN/LPN)

This position will provide a full-time Nurse’s Assistant (LVN/LPN) for Pleasant Grove Independent School District.

This employee must:

• The nurse’s assistant (LVN/LPN) shall be a high school graduate or hold a GED certificate;
• have three years of experience as an Educational Aide I or II; or
• have a minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related areas; or
• have experience related to working with students or parents as approved by the employing Superintendent; and
• have the following certifications and keep them current:
  • CPR/FIRST AID
  • SPINAL SCREENINGS
  • VISUAL/HEARING SCREENINGS
• be recommended by the employing Superintendent.

The nurse’s assistant shall have knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes of the following nature: ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to communicate and work with students, teachers, school administrators and the public; to maintain records; to maintain effective working relationship with other auxiliary personnel, teachers, school administrators, and the public; and have a positive and cooperative attitude toward the duties of the nurse’s assistant, the school, the staff, and the students.

Basic

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the school nurse in implementing the school health program in accordance with guidelines of the Texas Education Agency, in interpreted by the local school board.
• Receive and administer medications in accordance with district policies and regulations.
• Administer first aid treatment in accordance with district policies and regulations.
• Assist the nurse in administering vision and hearing screening.
• Maintain accurate health records for the assigned campus.
• Respect the confidence of instructional personnel and the administration, and the confidence of students and student health records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School/Trade School degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
