Job Description

The Student Recruitment & Admissions Relationship Specialist, under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Recruitment, successfully identifies and recruits prospective students to all TAMUT programs, and is responsible for planning, organizing, and participating in recruitment activities that increase the population of admitted and enrolled students. The Specialist also serves as the primary point of contact for community college partners, fostering and maintaining collaborative relationships to support transfer pathways and enrollment growth.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Associate Director of Recruitment to develop an effective recruitment plan for students, including transfer pipelines, prerequisite needs, admission requirements, program offerings, student interests, and career goals.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to implement effective recruitment strategies.
  • Identify, recruit, and contribute to increasing the population of admitted and enrolled students.
  • Act as a liaison to develop enrollment feeder partnerships between the university and community colleges, community‑based organizations, university partners, and businesses.
  • Implement outreach to prospective student populations and deliver information sessions.
  • Present information in both group and individual settings on academics, admissions processes, financial aid, scholarships, student advising, and career opportunities.
  • Engage prospective students in discussions about their future to set an enrollment plan.
  • Maintain a database of recruitment and outreach efforts and monitor for effectiveness.
  • Create and distribute resource materials for student recruitment and retention, analyze trends, and develop strategies for recruitment evaluation.
  • Guide students through the enrollment funnel with consistent communication (calls, emails, texts) and follow‑up.
  • Meet metrics by demonstrating product/program knowledge and achieving specific student recruitment goals.
  • Coordinate with constituents to facilitate the application process.
  • Manage and update the computerized prospective student database, application paperwork, and documentation.
  • Advise prospective students about admissions status.
  • Maintain accurate knowledge of programs, university services, and peer institutions' offerings.
  • Track and communicate with assigned inquiries and applicants.
  • Work directly with applicants and families to submit missing documents for successful enrollment.
  • Act as primary contact for transfer students, explaining coursework transfer, equivalencies, degree applicability, and articulation pathways.
  • Counsel students and parents regarding financial aid, veterans benefits, and scholarship opportunities.
  • Guide students and families through the FAFSA and financial aid processes.
  • Plan and schedule travel to recruitment events while maintaining an efficient travel budget.
  • Navigating the catalog, website, student portals, SIS, CRM, and Data Imaging system for accurate record‑keeping.
  • Work effectively with coworkers to ensure a professional, service‑focused student experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of admissions functions in higher education.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and marketing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
  • Experience/knowledge of university transfer processes.
  • Sales‑related experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Other Requirements
  • Ability to use technology to track and process students through University Admissions processes.
  • Ability to collect, write, and report various types of data sets.
  • Ability to connect with prospective online students.
  • Proven ability to achieve goals, influence others, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
