The electrical and automation engineer will design, implement, and maintain electrical systems, controls, and automation solutions across aluminum production processes – including melting, casting, rolling, and finishing. This role ensures high uptime of electrical and automation equipment, drives process efficiency, and supports safety and quality standards in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities and Duties- Lead the charge for ensuring all employees, customers, and visitors understand the importance of 100% safety compliance and maintaining an injury free workplace.
- Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley (Control Logix/Compact Logix/Guard Logix), Siemens (TIA Portal), or Beckhoff PLC platforms
- Project management including scope development, budgeting, execution and documentation of electrical and automation projects.
- Specifying, setup, and troubleshooting of variable frequency AC drives, DC motor drives, and motor control centers.
- Promote and develop preventative maintenance procedures of electrical & automation equipment.
- Lead root-cause analysis of electrical downtime using tools such as historians, meters, and thermal imaging.
- Maintain arc flash & coordination studies, NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B compliance
- HMI/ SCADA development and modification
- Develop, troubleshoot, and modify manufacturing execution system interfaces (MES)
- Maintain and modify historians
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ years of industrial automation experience or 10 years industrial automation experience with no degree.
- Allen-Bradley Control Logix, Compact Logix, & Guard Logix programming and troubleshooting
- Siemens S7-1500 programming and troubleshooting
- Factory Talk (SE/ME), Simatic, or Ignition HMI experience
- Siemens and Allen-Bradley drives experience
- Medium and low voltage switch gear troubleshooting and maintenance experience
