Computer Support Specialist

- Assist technical staff with consultative services and support using desktop software applications.
- Assist technical staff in researching problems.
- Troubleshoot a variety of computing and connectivity issues.
- Provide support to faculty, staff, and students for efficient use of technology.
- Assist staff in evaluating issues and problems.
- Provide guidance, recommendations, and solutions for hardware and software selection.
- Assist staff with demonstrations of software applications.
- Provide training on the use of widely used applications and specialized software.
- Develop documentation for internal use.
- Assist users with new technology deployments.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of related IT experience.
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Intermediate troubleshooting skills and client relations experience.
- Knowledge of the ITIL framework.
- 2–4 years of technical hands‑on experience with Windows‑based environments, Mac OS environments, networking, or audio/visual equipment.
- Experience with wireless devices such as smartphones, tablets, notebooks, and iPads.
- Experience with workstations, printers, and peripheral maintenance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work beyond normal office hours, including weekends.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time of hire; no pre‑employment sponsorship authorized.
Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally or up to 25 pounds frequently, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, stooping, and crouching while installing, troubleshooting, or removing equipment; fine motor skills for assembling and repairing small parts; close vision for reading screens and small print; color vision to identify cables; ability to work in confined spaces or noisy environments; extensive use of keyboard and mouse requiring repetitive hand/wrist movement;
ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods while performing computer‑based or on‑site support activities. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
