Description

The Industrial Painter/Applicator plays a critical role in producing high-quality, durable, and visually appealing truck bodies. This position is responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paints and specialized coatings, inspecting finished products, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with all safety and quality standards. Success in this role requires strong technical painting skills, attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to safety in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces through cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and pre-treatment processes to ensure proper coating adhesion and finish quality.
  • Apply primers, base coats, topcoats, and specialty coatings using spray equipment while meeting customer, company, and industry specifications.
  • Monitor paint thickness, curing processes, and coating performance to ensure durability and appearance standards are achieved.
  • Inspect surfaces before, during, and after painting; identify and correct defects such as runs, contamination, color mismatches, or finish imperfections.
  • Maintain accurate records of paint materials, mixing ratios, and application processes.
  • Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot painting equipment, booths, and related tools.
  • Manage paint and coating inventory and ensure proper storage of materials.
  • Follow all OSHA, environmental, and company safety requirements, including proper use of PPE.
  • Collaborate with production teams to support efficient workflow and on-time delivery.
  • Assist with process improvements, training, and continuous quality initiatives.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in industrial painting preferred.
  • Minimum two years of industrial painting experience, preferably in truck body, automotive, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with spray painting, masking, surface preparation, and specialty coatings.
  • Knowledge of paint systems including epoxies, polyurethanes, enamels, and corrosion-resistant coatings.

Physical Requirements
  • Proficiency with spray guns, airless sprayers, and paint application equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and quality focus.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety practices and coating application standards.
  • Ability to stand, bend, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions and wear required PPE, including respirators, gloves, goggles, and protective clothing.
