Position Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) – Patient Care Unit (PCU). Full‑time position at Christus Health, Texarkana, TX.
Responsibilities- Provides routine and complex care, developing long‑range goals or plans.
- Continuously develops the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing.
- Delegates tasks appropriately to help manage the clinical situation.
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS
Competencies:
Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. - Provides nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation) in accordance with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
- Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administers medications and treatments following protocol; monitors for side‑effects and effectiveness.
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
- Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
- BSN preferred; a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
- BLS required; must be current.
- RN license in state of employment or compact.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- All new RNs attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
- New hires are precepted by a designated staff member and must complete initial competency validation.
- Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation.
- Annual competency verification is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – no grace period; must be current.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – within 30 days of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – within 30 days of hire.
- Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) – within 60 days of hire.
- Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) – within 60 days of hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – within 30 days of hire.
- AWHONN INTERMEDIATE Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) – within 30 days of hire.
- STABLE (Neonatal Education) – within 30 days of hire.
7:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Full time.
