Registered Nurse (RN) – History & Physical (H&P)
Bowie County Jail – Texarkana, TXFull-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PMSome On-Call Coverage as NeededTK Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team at the Bowie County Jail in Texarkana, Texas, with a primary focus on History & Physical (H&P) assessments.

This is a great opportunity for an RN who enjoys patient assessment, working independently, and using a broad range of clinical skills. The position offers a consistent Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule, with some on-call responsibility as needed.

Correctional healthcare gives nurses the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population while working closely with medical providers and other members of the healthcare team. Previous correctional experience is helpful, but it is not required.

What You'll DoAs the H&P RN, you will play an important role in evaluating patients entering the facility and helping establish an appropriate plan of care.

Responsibilities include:

Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and assist with History & Physical evaluations for patients entering the facility.

Obtain and document medical histories, current health conditions, medications, allergies, and other relevant clinical information.

Perform ongoing patient assessments and identify changes in condition requiring additional evaluation or intervention.

Develop, implement, and update nursing plans of care based on patient needs.

Communicate assessment findings and patient needs to physicians and other medical providers.

Collaborate with nurses, providers, mental health professionals, and other members of the healthcare team.

Administer medications and treatments according to established policies, procedures, and provider orders.

Accurately document assessments, treatments, medications, and patient responses in the medical record.

Review and accurately process provider orders according to policy and procedure.

Provide patient education regarding health conditions, medications, treatment plans, and follow-up care.

Help coordinate referrals and continuity of care when additional services are required.

Maintain patient confidentiality and provide respectful, professional care at all times.

Assist with orientation and training of new team members as appropriate.

Maintain compliance with applicable clinical, facility, and regulatory standards.

Participate in on-call coverage as needed.

Perform other nursing duties within the RN scope of practice as assigned.

What We're Looking For Current, valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas Current CPR certification

Strong nursing assessment and documentation skills

Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team Ability to successfully complete required background screening and pre-employment requirements

Correctional healthcare experience is preferred, but not required
