Purpose and Scope
The incumbent operates heavy equipment such as cranes, clamshells, power shovels, motor graders, heavy loaders, carryalls, bulldozers, rollers, scrapers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scrapper attachments.
Essential Responsibilities- Excavate, load, or move and distribute dirt, gravel, or other materials.
- Excavate or stockpile material on roads, drill pads, event sites, and construction sites.
- Rip rock, cut slopes, push scrapers, and dig sumps.
- Feed crushers or batch plants; remove aggregate from under conveyor belts.
- Ensure machinery is maintained properly and fluid levels are adequate.
- Read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans; perform minor emergency repairs and maintenance.
- Perform all other position‑related duties as assigned or requested.
- Stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk, or hear during work.
- Walk frequently; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
- Occasionally sit, climb, or balance; taste or smell rarely required.
- Lift furniture weighing 40-45 pounds frequently, occasionally over 50 pounds.
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, extreme cold, and risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level is usually loud; work in potentially unsafe conditions that may involve unmitigated hazards.
Safety
- Maintain a safety culture and comply with all training requirements.
- Participate in emergency response tasks and serve on safety committees and teams.
Quality
- Conform to the Amentum Quality Policy and customer contracts.
- Carry out job activities in compliance with the Quality System documents.
- Read and understand Quality Management and Customer Satisfaction responsibilities.
Procedure Compliance
- Read, understand, and implement operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to the job.
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Minimum two years’ experience as an Equipment Operator or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the ability to pass a driver skill test by CDL standards.
- Physically qualified in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization; U.S. citizenship required for these credentials.
- Availability to work any shift, including weekends and other hours as needed.
Hourly rate: $26.70 (as listed at time of posting).
