Mine Heavy Equipment Operator - Texarkana, TX​/Shreveport, LA

Job Summary

The Mine Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of equipment (mainly bulldozer and excavator) used in construction, maintenance, and excavation.

• Operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in excavation and site construction.
• Properly follow company safety procedures and bring problems to the attention of the foreman, superintendent, safety director, or HR manager.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, refer defects or needed repairs to the supervisor, and clean equipment.
• Apply knowledge of moisture condition, cut grade, and ability to load trucks; understand cutting and filling grade.
• Prefer knowledge of GPS.

• At least 3-5 years recent experience in construction as a heavy equipment operator.
• Experience operating bulldozers and excavators.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, attention to detail, time management, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
• Friendly disposition, personable and professional.
• Works independently and as part of a team.
• Recognizes and maintains confidentiality in accordance with standard procedures.
• High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).

• Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, squatting, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, seeing, and standing for long periods of time.
• The essential duties require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
• Prolonged periods of sitting on a forklift or other warehouse equipment.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, bright lights, dust, fumes, gases, and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
• Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing protection, and hard hats when needed.
• Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
• React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
• Must be able to move and lift to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
• Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
• Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
• Must complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
• Must use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
• Must speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
