Overview

The Computer Lab Assistant I is the first level in a three-level instructional lab support series. The Computer Lab Assistant is responsible for providing students, faculty, staff, and community members a safe and comfortable learning environment with access to computers, printing, copying, and scanning. The Computer Lab Assistant I is responsible for ensuring visitors to the lab sign-in, are able to print and answer questions regarding computer skills, LMS, and Microsoft Office.

They are also responsible for conducting basic computer troubleshooting in all open labs on campus and computer-based classrooms as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all visitors to the lab sign-in and monitor utilization of the lab.
  • Address lab visitors’ questions and help them print, copy, and scan.
  • Troubleshoot hardware problems and submit work orders as needed.
  • Identify and stay abreast of contemporary trends in lab/classroom technology.
  • Maintain a professional learning environment for the students.
  • Monitor supplies in the lab.
  • Be proactive, creative, and accurate, as well as work independently as a departmental member.
  • Perform additional related job duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Experience sufficient to perform essential duties.
  • Applicable computer programs and using computers and related software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office:
    Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Record‑keeping principles.
  • Prioritizing tasks.
  • Monitor records and files.
  • Ability to inventory supplies.
  • Basic computer maintenance.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, and the general public, sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, D2L, and HTML.
Licensing / Certification Requirements

None.

Physical Requirements
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Work requires stooping, crouching, talking, seeing, hearing, repetitive motions.
  • Work requires sedentary work/sitting greater than 50% of the time.
Salary Range

Minimum salary: $9.50 per hour. Mid‑point salary: $13.00 per hour.
