To serve as the Math Instructor for Upward Bound during the academic year and summer academy. The academic year (monthly Saturday meetings) and summer program (6 weeks) involves instructing students grades 9 – 12 in academic and/or elective subjects for added learning and preparation for success in postsecondary education. Innovative, hands‑on activities, and creative curriculums and various technology use are encouraged.

Bachelor’s degree in field of teaching required.
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish.
Instructor must possess ability to develop innovative curriculum in line with course objectives;
Expertise in academic area and use of technology in classroom; ability to relate to rural project participants with diverse backgrounds and the ability to motivate students toward academic endeavors.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
Master’s degree and/or experience serving postsecondary students
Job Duties
- Confer with supervisor to discuss program goals and course objectives.
- Develop and deliver a curriculum that addresses course objectives.
- Utilize innovative classroom techniques and methodologies that involve students in challenging learning opportunities.
- Network with the college and community resources to include creative active‑learning experiences.
- Provide feedback to students that will enhance their academic growth.
- Monitor and report student attendance.
- Refer to the supervisor those students not making adequate progress.
- Attend meetings to formatively evaluate student progress and determine improvement strategies for students.
- Complete summative evaluations highlighting students’ strengths and needs.
- Submit curriculum evaluation for improving program services.
- Administering pretests, posttests and evaluations.
- Planning, teaching and preparing materials for classes.
- Recommends program improvements.
- Participate in Program Awards Ceremonies activities.
- Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
